Young Donors

Young Donors is a club held at the Full Service Community School, New Roberto Clemente. Students participating in the Young Donors program are trained to think outside the box when it comes to “giving”. Young Donors believe that it is “Greater to give than to receive,” despite economic backgrounds. If we learn how to give when we have a little, we will definitely give when we have a lot.

Young donors Give Back to new orleans!!!

yd1

After 5 successful years, Young Donors decided to switch things up and give back to a city that is known for their festivals, New Orleans! Our original plan was to visit Puerto Rico and help out communities affected by Hurricane Maria, and although we were not able to visit Puerto Rico this year, it seems like it was destined for us to help out Maria.

Maria is a resident from New Orleans who was affected by Hurricane Katrina, a tornado and a house fire. Due to the many unfortunate events, Maria is currently without a home for about 2 years now. Through the United Saints Recovery project Young Donors were able to partnered and offer their services to renovate Maria’s home. During spring break, the Young Donors were responsible for flooring and painting the walls of the house. It was quite the experience for Young Donors! New Orleans will always have a part in the hearts of the students and staff who attended the trip.

The Young Donors also had the opportunity to visit some of the different sights that New Orleans had to offer, such as the Jean Lafitte Swamp Tour.
